The Wobulator Modulator Plugin (AUv3) presents itself as a versatile audio effect plugin capable of functioning both as a standalone application and within any AU-compatible host, including platforms like Logic and GarageBand.

Overview

This plugin offers a stereo chorus/modulation effect that introduces a distinct "wobbly" character. Traditionally, chorus effects are achieved by modulating the timing of a delayed version of the original signal and blending the two signals together, typically using short delay times (around 20ms). The Wobulator enhances this with its "Wobble" parameter, which infuses variability into both the rate and depth of modulation, creating a less predictable modulation cycle for the listener.

Parameters

• Active - Engages or disengages the effect.
• Delay - Adjusts the base delay time within a range of 10-100ms. Longer delay times can facilitate automatic double tracking (ADT) effects.
• Rate - Controls the base modulation LFO frequency from 0.01 to 2.00Hz.
• Depth - Determines the extent of delay modulation. For instance, a 50ms delay at 50% depth will modulate between 25 and 50ms.
• Wobble - Introduces variability through an internal wobulation matrix. At extreme settings, the modulation may evoke a tape-like quality. When set to zero, Wobulator operates as a conventional chorus effect.
• Mix - Balances the dry (input) and wet (processed) signals. At 50%, the output consists of equal parts dry and wet sound, while at 100%, only the wet sound is audible, ideal for achieving wobbly tape effects.
